How many rolls of wallpaper?

When purchasing your wallpaper, it's important to know from the outset how many rolls you'll need. It's recommended to choose wallpaper rolls from the same production batch to avoid color variations between batches. That's why knowing how many rolls you'll need for your project is essential from the outset. This will also help you manage your project budget.

Please Note:

  • Casamance rolls: 70 cm wide × 10.05 m long (covers ± 7.035 m²)
  • Casadeco rolls: 53 cm wide × 10.05 m long (covers ± 5.326 m²)
  • Caselio rolls: 53 cm wide × 10.05 m long (covers ± 5.326 m²)
  • Panoramic designs: Across all three brands vary in size and are calculated per panel or per set - please refer to product-specific information.

How to Calculate the Number of Rolls

  • How to Calculate the Number of Rolls

Standard wallpaper rolls (53 cm × 10.05 m) typically cover around 5.3 m² for plain, seamless applications. However, wider rolls, like those from Casamance, offer more coverage - up to 7 m² per roll -making them ideal for larger spaces or fewer seams.

Not sure how many rolls you’ll need? Our easy-to-use calculator helps you estimate the number of wallpaper rolls required for your space based on wall dimensions and roll width. Designed to make your planning effortless and accurate.

To wallpaper a wall:

Step 1: Determine the Total Number of Strips Needed
Divide the total length of your wall by the width of one strip of wallpaper. For standard wallpaper, this is 53 cm. Example: For a 7 m wall: 7 m / 0.53 m = 13.20, rounded up to 14 strips.

Step 2: Determine the Total Length of Wallpaper Needed
Multiply the number of strips by the height of your wall, adding 10 cm for trimming (and the pattern repeat if applicable). Example: If the wall is 2.50 m high: 14 x 2.60 m = 36.4 m.

Step 3: Determine the Number of Strips per Roll
Divide the length of the roll by the height of the wall + trimming allowance. 10.05 m / 2.60 m = 3.86, rounded down to 3 strips per roll.

Step 4: Determine the Number of Rolls Needed
Divide the total number of strips by the number of strips per roll. 14 / 3 = 4.66, rounded up to 5 rolls.

Tip:
Always buy at least one extra roll, especially if you're a beginner.

To wallpaper a room:

Step 1: Determine the Total Number of Strips Needed
First, calculate the perimeter of the room. Example: For a room 8 m by 5 m:
(8 + 5) x 2 = 26 m perimeter.

Then divide the perimeter by the width of a wallpaper strip (e.g., 0.53 m): 26 / 0.53 = 49.05, rounded up to 50 strips.

Step 2: Calculate the Total Length of Wallpaper Needed
Measure the wall height (e.g., 2.50 m) and add 10 cm: 50 x 2.60 m = 130 m.

Step 3: Determine the Number of Strips per Roll
10.05 m / 2.60 m = 3.86, rounded down to 3 strips per roll.

Step 4: Determine the Number of Rolls Needed
50 / 3 = 16.66, rounded up to 17 rolls.

Tip: We recommend purchasing 1–2 extra rolls if you’re a beginner.
